Judit Polgar is a Hungarian chess player, and is considered to be the best female chess player of all time, as well as one of the best chess all-time players. She is the only woman to have ever crossed the 2700 FIDE rating (often regarded as super-grandmaster territory), and in 1991, at aged 15, broke the world record of being the youngest grandmaster in history.
She has defeated nine world champions, with Gary Kasparov being a particularly prominent win, due to his prior vocalisations that women are inferior chess players. Polgar defeated Kasparov in 42 moves, in the 'Russia - The Rest of The World' tournament in 2002. She marks her win against Kasparov as one of the most remarkable moments in her career.
She is a true role model for young chess players throughout the world. Off the chess board Polgar is also a champion of equality and opportunity, helping to further the role chess can play within education, as well as advocating for gender equality within chess.
